Starbucks 2013 Planner launched

Starbucks 2013 Planner Philippine Edition

FOLLOW UP POST: Starbucks 2013 Planner Philippine Edition

You know Christmas is just around the corner when people around you have started collecting stickers for their Limited Edition Starbucks Planner. It’s an annual tradition for the coffee addicts. I never understood why would people spend so much just to get that coveted planner when you can buy one from the bookstore. But since by husband became a coffee drinker last year, I thought I would try. I did collect last year and unlike others who could complete the sticker album in less than a week. It took me two months. That’s because we would only buy one or two every week. Last year, my husband consumed majority of the cups. Every Saturday, he would drink a cup for me. After the Starbucks Planner was claimed, I said I’d never do it again. Continue reading Starbucks 2013 Planner launched

The Brick Bible

I’m excited! In a few hours I will get my hands on the LEGO books I mentioned yesterday. And more good news: I was beyond thrilled that Brendan Powell Smith has been replying to my queries. It was a simple correspondence through Facebook but I’m happy that he responded.

I decided to give the books to my nephew Nav. We’re going to Bangkok and I haven’t bought any gift for him. He loves Lego too and recently, he has shown interest in reading the Bible and devotionals according to his dad, my brother-in-law, who is also a pastor. I know he’d love them. I wanted to get signed copies of the books, greeting cards, and posters. I will order The Brick products before December. I’m still deciding whether I’d have the items shipped straight to the Philippines or to a friend who is in New York.

I’m not sure if the books will be available locally but I’m sure they’d be more expensive as with the case of the Noah’s Ark book. Many of my friends have also expressed their excitement and they think that the books are a great way to get kids (and some adults) too read the Bible. I love Brendan’s work because it’s Lego and the Bible. Two of my favorite things in the world.

Last week, The Chicago Tribune’s Redeye blog published a full review of The Brick Bible. Hufftington Post also picked up the story and featured The New Testaiment in LEGOs. The Brick Bible also made it to TIME:  The Brick Bible: Turning Jesus Stories into Lego Scenes.

I am hoping this LEGO Bible would lead more people to Christ. Who knew even toy bricks can be used to advance God’s Kingdom?

I plan on asking a few questions to The Reverend as I’m so into the books. Feel free to send me questions you’d’ like me to ask him. I hope he replies too.  🙂

Mixed reviews of The Brick Testament but we’ll see. I shall post a REVIEW once I’m done reading them.

[Food Trip] I Ate My Veggies

I only learned about Pipino Makati branch’s opening last Monday and I went two days after. I was at the area buying that guitar for my husband me when I decided to check out Pipino finally. The restaurant was just on the other side of Jupiter St. beside Tong Yang. If I’m not mistaken, that was Fort Med right in front of the building.

I used to live near so I felt a bit nostalgic. I entered the restaurant excited. Pipino was actually inside the Pino Resto Bar. Those two are different restaurants but from the same group.

There were only three tables inside the Pipino area. I’m assuming Pipino customers can also  use the Pino Resto Bar area. One waitress attended to me. I forgot her name but I found her pretty. 🙂

The Bible Legofied

Planning a birthday party for Noah led me to a website that featured The Last Supper with Lego Minifig characters. I started saving the photos because I didn’t want to forget about them. I was so amazed at the details. I had no idea then that The Last Supper was only one of the many Bible stories illustrated with the famous LEGO bricks.

I was trying to search for something Lego and the Bible and got the surprise of my life to see that a Lego enthusiast named Brendan Powell Smith came up with The Brick Bible series. The Brick Bible for Kids – Bible pictures books for the young LEGO fan.

And these two LEGO books – The Brick Bible New Testament and The Brick Bible Old Testament.

Honestly, I wanted to cry, shout for joy, when I discovered these LEGO books. My son Noah is in a Lego phase so mommy is getting crazy too.  And what a special coincidence that I’m planning a LEGO party and then these new books were about to be released this October-November.

I wasn’t expecting to see the Noah’s Ark Brick Bible here in the Philippines this early but I saw one at Hobbes and Landes in Greenbelt 5. Josh couldn’t understand my excitement so I explained to him why. I was contemplating on getting one but I thought it would be cheaper if I buy from Amazon.

And so I did.

I bought 3 LEGO books published by SkyHorse Publishing: Noah’s Ark Brick Bible, The Brick Bible New Testament, and The Brick Bible Old Testament.

I don’t have the books with me yet.  I had the package sent to someone in the US who’s arriving tomorrow— Friday! One more day before I get my hands on these books. Yey!

This is the first time I bought items directly from Amazon. I’m impressed with the shopping experienced from searching to buying and customer service. I’m excited!

Here is a trailer of the new LEGO Books:

Brendan notes on his website that “Items sold on this site are not official LEGO products, and are not authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by The LEGO Group.”

These are not licensed by LEGO but I’m sure Ole Kirk Christiansen won’t mind. I will show you the books soon. 🙂

It’s the first photo I’ve seen from my brother and his fiancee’s Pre-Nup session.  Confused?
Happy Halloween! 🙂

Eat your veggies

Pipino Vegetarian Restaurant Jupiter Makati Branch

I’ve  been wanting to try this restaurant ever since I learned about this from friends and Patty Laurel but Quezon City is too far! Haha! Alam mo naman tamad akong bumyahe. Since we’re chained to our house, going out has been a challenge lately. Hihi.

Kidding aside, I’m glad that this Filipino vegetarian restaurant is now on my side of the metro. A branch has recently opened up in Jupiter St. Makati. Yes! I have no more reason not to go because it’s near. I used to live nearer this new Pipino resto and I could imagine it would have been more awesome. Continue reading Eat your veggies

Confessions of an UnReader

My Stack of Unread Magazines for this month

I prefer reading the old fashioned way. As much as I confess being a techie but digital reading really isn’t for me. I tried but I ended up not reading the e-books and magazines, only wasting the dollars I spent.

And for this month and the last, I have this pile of magazines unread. I have read only a few pages but I wish I could have the luxury to sit and read them. All I need is an hour or two. I guess I just have to bring them with me on the plane. We’ll see.

What local magazines do I read? Smart Parenting, Real Living, Metro Home, Working Mom, Food, YES, Star Studio, and the newly launched ELLE Decor Philippines.

I don’t buy all magazines each month. I only buy if I want to read a special feature or if I like who’s on the cover. My must-buy though is Real Living magazine. The Smart Parenting, I subscribed on Zinio but I don’t get to read them anymore. :/

How about you? Which mode of reading do you prefer? Do you prefer to read your books or magazines electronically or have the actual reading material in your hand?
